Moravia Volunteer Fire Company 2015 Activity Report
Last year Moravia Fire responded to 402 Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Calls. The total man hours spent protecting our community was 1999.52 hours.
Moravia firefighters participated in 106 trainings, drills, stand-by, work details and fund raisers. The total time invested in our community was 3785.54 hours. This number does not account for the countless hours spent in NYS Fire Training classes throughout New York State.
The total time Moravia Firefighters spent protecting, training and ensuring Moravia Fire was ready to respond was 5785.06 hours.
Moravia Fire responded to 6 structure fires, 13 Rapid Intervention calls, 274 Emergency Medical calls, 13 Motor Vehicle accidents, 4 vehicle fires, and 36 Mutual Aid calls.
Moravia fire protects a very diverse geography and population that includes: 5,924 people in an area of 31.43 square miles, the high School / middle and elementary schools with a student and staff population of 1,100, and Cayuga Correction Facility with a staff and inmate population of 1,100. We are responsible for protecting 938 acres in Fillmore Glen State Park, which presents very unique and diverse rescue situations. In our district we also protect an extended care facility, a senior living housing complex, Owasco Lake inlet, Buckey Petroleum Pipeline, and numerous other companies and facilities.
Moravia Firefighters are called to be highly trained and ready to respond at a moment’s notice no matter the need. We are always looking for community members with an interest in answering that call, who are willing to volunteer.
