Moravia Volunteer Fire Company proudly provides fire protection to residents of the Village of Moravia and the Town of Moravia.
September 11, 2026, marks 25 years since the attack on our nation. Moravia Fire pauses to remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives on that tragic day, including the 343 courageous New York City firefighters who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
We ask that you take a moment today to honor their memory.
Several members of Moravia Fire and Four Town First Aid—Chief Jason Withers, Past Chief Bill Andersen, Past Chief Robbie Perkins, Jake Sharpsteen, Al Mantey (deceased), and Dave Lawrence—provided firefighter, EMT, and A-EMT support during the Ground Zero rescue and recovery effort. Upon returning from Ground Zero, Chief Withers signed up to become a New York City Firefighter and served in the first Fire Academy class following 9/11.
These men proudly represented the Moravia community as they stood in solidarity with responders from across the nation. May we continue to work together, not only on this day of remembrance, but every day as proud citizens of the United States.
